Wittenberg University offers a cooperative program with Wilmington College's Master of Science in Occupational Therapy (MSOT) program, as well as excellent preparation for admission to other occupational therapy programs.
Occupational therapy provides a unique health and rehabilitation service to aid individuals with disabling conditions to become as independent as possible in carrying out their daily tasks. With the current demand for occupational therapists high, students have the opportunity to prepare for a variety of work in skilled nursing, clinical nursing, hospitals, schools and industrial settings.
The Cooperative Program with Wilmington College
Wilmington's MSOT is a residential, entry-level program, designed with a focus on enhancing rural health care services. Students that attend this program will be prepared for practice in a wide variety of health care settings, with all age groups and diverse populations. Participation in the program requires a commitment of approximately 24 months, with students spending their first four semesters on campus completing the required coursework and then leaving campus for the last two semesters to engage in required Level II Fieldwork experiences.
Wittenberg students interested in pursuing graduate degrees in occupational therapy will have preferred admission status and enrollment benefits when they apply to the MSOT program at Wilmington contingent on the following conditions:
- Wittenberg students must notify Wilmington of their intent to enroll in the MSOT program by January 1 of their senior undergraduate year (1 year prior to start of the MSOT program) by completing a graduate enrollment application through Wilmington's Office of Admissions, specifying their intended year of MSOT program enrollment.
- Wittenberg students must complete an application through the Occupational Therapy Centralized Application Service (OTCAS) by September 1 for the upcoming spring (January) term of the current academic year.
- Wittenberg students must pay a non-refundable $500 deposit (applied towards their first semester of MSOT tuition) by September 1 for the upcoming spring (January) term of the current academic year (according to Wilmington's published graduate calendar).
- Wittenberg students must successfully complete all published MSOT prerequisite admission criteria.
