Glenn '85 & Karen (McCready) Stucker '85
Glenn and I met the second week of college during Freshman orientation in the fall of 1981. And where did we meet? At the beer truck at a Beta Theta Pi party! So, yes, our lives together started with beer. :)) We have been together ever since…in May, we will celebrate our 37th wedding anniversary. Our time and experiences at Wittenberg are some of the most special moments of our lives.
Carl '04 & Octavia (Williams) Poole '05
Carl and I met during our sophomore and freshman years at Witt! We were both Biology majors, concentration in Marine Biology. We met by chance on our way to Kuss Science Center for class. Unbeknownst to us we shared many mutual friends & the amazing Co-Advisor team of James Welch (JW) & Kathleen Reinsel (KR). It wasn't though until we joined CBS for the March for Social Action (2003) in Washington, D.C. that we became inseparable!
Madyson '16 & Corey Farnbauch '16
We met our freshmen year and began our friendship then. I played for the Women’s Basketball team and Corey played for the Baseball team at Witt. We lived across the hall from each other in New Dorm and been together ever since. We got married in October 2019 and welcomed our little boy, Brooks, in June 2021. We are so blessed with how a place like Wittenberg brought us together.
Ashley (Petersen) '07 & Mark Harriman '08
Mark and I met our sophomore year. I wanted to live in Myers Hall but my roommate convinced me to live in Firestine despite the heavy football player presence...and smell. We crossed paths at parties a few times and then both ended up in Dr. Broz's Communications class. Living one floor away, we'd study together and our friends all hung out on the weekends.
Charlotte '21 & Jenna Hurst-Bluemlein '20
Jenna and I met during our sophomore and junior years at Wittenberg. Our first date was attending Union Board's rendition of the Rocky Horror Picture Show. Witt was such a fun place to fall in love! We got married in September of 2022 surrounded by so many of our Witt friends!
Melissa Emming '16 & Aaron Coeling '14
We met at day time study tables when Aaron ended up being Melissa’s proctor. Our first date was to Mike and Rosy’s and the rest is history!
Gwen Roemer '01 & Trevor Block '02
Trevor and I met at a Phi Psi party in the spring of 1999. He was a freshman and I was a sophomore. I arrived with my girlfriends and was looking for the person in charge of the music. Trevor was a pledge and helped me get some good dance music going. He went home that night and looked through the "Baby Book" (Witt's prequel to Facebook) to find me.
Loren '16 & Jess Stankeveh '15
Jess and I met 10 years ago when our paths crossed in Tower Hall. He was the cute boy on the fifth floor. I was just a freshman on the 10th floor. We exchanged words here and there and my mom even met him on the stinky elevator. He called me Turpin as we were in the same conference in our high school years back in our hometown, Cincinnati.
Lorraine '86 & Kevin Meek '88
It was the third week of classes in the fall of 1984. We were both at a party at the Chopper house when I noticed Lorraine from across the room and had to meet this beautiful young woman. I offered to walk her back to her dorm, we ended up at the ATO house, and we talked for hours.
Gina (Flocken) '06 & Kyle Bigler '10
We actually went to the same high school before attending Witt AND worked together at the same company before we started dating!
Samantha Fraga '18 & Reed Gibson '18
Reed and Sam met their sophomore year in 2016 at an event with mutual friends. They stayed friends and interacted consistently in Greek life and other events on campus until 2018 when they finally went on an official date during grad week of their senior year.
Meg (Price) '73 & Ward Heine '68
We met on a blind date arranged by Ward’s sister, who was Meg’s Alpha Xi Sister. We were married in 1974.
Olivia '15 & Chris Navarre '14
We met at a fraternity party that Beta fraternity was hosting. I (Olivia) was dressed in footy pajamas because I was a new pledge of the sigma kappa sorority and they had us dress like babies. Chris just had a normal outfit on and a backwards hat. He saw me on the dance floor and asked me to dance, I said yes. After that night we hung out and officially started dating Valentine’s Day 2012.
Gail Miscko '84 & Steve Harsch '89
We met in the spring of 2010 on the patio at Fishers in Peninsula, OH, in the heart of the Cuyahoga Valley National Park. Our paths did not cross at Wittenberg, but we hit it off and have been together 13 years and married for almost 7 years.
Emily Harrison '18 & Brenden Jurden '18
We met in our very first class freshman year in 2014. Both of us pretty smitten right from the start. We have been together for 6 years and married on October 1st, 2022. Thank you, Wittenberg :)
Mary Ensign '69 & Robert Shoop '68
I came to Wittenberg to play football. Mary came to be a student. We met in the library ( I was sleeping, Mary was studying), fell in love, and just celebrated our 56 year wedding anniversary. Mary taught me to be a student. We both earned Ph.D degrees and had careers as university professors.
Soraya '02 & Adam Hall '02
Adam and Soraya met while standing in the line to check into Firestine Hall. Adam, usually a shy guy, said “Hi” to Soraya. Throughout New Student Days, they kept running into each other, including being in the same advising group and classes. As the years went on, their friendship grew into love. They were engaged shortly after graduation, and they have been married happily with two children ever since.
Jen '15 & Jeff Hall '18
Jen and Jeff met in a "non-traditional" way at Wittenberg. As members of local marching bands (KR and NE respectively), they met through a mutual friend who left Jeff's school to join Jen's. Wittenberg held a remembrance concert on the 1st anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks. Their two schools were placed side by side and, the two met for the first time on the 35 yard line of the football field. While they didn't attend Wittenberg together, both completed degrees several years later.
Paden Frank '10 & Kori Gunther '10
We met on the first day of New Student Days in the fall of 2006, having both enrolled in the same “WittSem” with Dr. Kent Dixon, putting us in the same group for orientation activities. After a few events, I thought Paden was cute, and I overheard him tell someone he was auditioning for the New Student Showcase that evening. Having been involved in the theater in high school, I decided I, too, would participate, and thus we entered that adventure together too.
Troy Boucher '19 & Delaney Detrick '21
Delaney & Troy met at a soccer formal when Troy was a junior and Delaney was a freshman. They started dating a month after they met and have loved each other ever since. They got married on 7/23/22 in Springfield, Ohio.
Jonathon '18 & Lacey Eigel Forster '16
Johnny and I met while he was a freshman and I was a junior. A happenstance meeting at a fraternity party turned into a supportive friendship during my last two years at Witt. We spent time cheering each other on at baseball and softball games, studying at club Lib and enjoying Greek life events.
Gabriel Lamar '21 & Trina Rosing '21
We met during new student days and are now engaged! Getting married in December.
Michael '15 & Olivia Flory Burgher '15
He moved into Tower and I moved into Firestine. Our story starts at Friendship Manor nearly three years after moving to Wittenberg. Did we cross paths freshmen-sophomore year? Probably, as our friend circles overlapped frequently. In the Fall of our junior year, my high school friend and fellow Tiger, Robbie, introduced me to Michael on a lawn of Faculty Court.
Ethan '20 & Laura Bucher Peck '19
We met in Krieg Hall during music education classes. We became closer through Greek life connections and OCMEA meetings, and began dating when Ethan was a second semester freshman.

We met doing homework around midnight on the third floor of Hollenbeck Hall in the spring of 2010, and spent countless night together in Thomas Library working at the reference desk.
Sean '08 & Jillian LeMaster Hyland '09
Jillian and I met through our passion for athletics, as she was a Cheerleader and I played on the Basketball Team. Our story includes one specific party that was hosted by some basketball players where we hit it off with one another. Shortly after that night, we began dating.
Jack '75 & Marcie Wiseman Butterfield '74
It was October 6, 1971. My roommate’s boyfriend was an RA in Myers, and one of his freshmen was celebrating a birthday. A group of us walked to The Peacock bar near campus to celebrate. Not a drinker, I ordered a Coke, only to meet Jack, another Coke drinker. That was the beginning for us.
Tom '85 & Nancy Papineau Mahan '85
We met as freshmen, and were friends for the first few years.... though many people would ask,"Dont you date that red-haired Delta Sig," or "Aren't you with that Gamma Phi?" After graduating, Tom proposed between the Sig and the Gamma Phi house.... He didn't notice that he was standing next to a dumpster 😆🤣.. here we are, re-enacting the moment in 2010....
Nathan '06 & Stephanie DiPalma Sears '06
Stephanie and Nathan studied English and shared many classes. During American Gothic class with Dr . Hinson Stephanie fell madly in love with Nathan for his wit and charm, dashing good looks and of course this humility. However, it was not until studying together for an American Renaissance exam that Stephanie wagered a date. Despite having not finished the novel for the exam, Nathan confidently informed his study partners, who were working very hard, that he would be fine and would likely get a perfect score on the exam.
Brent Whitehead '17 & Abby Baker '17
Brent was one of my first people I met at Wittenberg as he was in my Freshmen seminar. We remained friends under senior year when we finally started dating, the rest is history! We are now engaged and getting married at the Columbus zoo. I have Wittenberg to thank for introducing me to my best friend and future husband!
Eddie '75 & Wendy Williams Ford '76
It was the 1970s. We wore bellbottoms and platform shoes. The sounds of the Spinners, Carly Simon, and many others could be heard on campus. Eddie, a Wittenberg basketball player, shared a house with another basketball player and three football players. Frequently, they hosted parties. Wendy attended one of the parties with some of her friends. Eddie asked her to dance. They continued to dance, laugh and talk at the party.
Chase '09 & Jamie Mack Bryson '09
We met freshman year in Tower Hall after being introduced by mutual friends. We soon became friends and hung out on many Witt Wednesdays. Chase and his fraternity brothers became avid soccer fans and would come to cheer in the stands - some may say they were the 'hooligan types' of fans.
Aaron '15 & Victoria Blain Patrick '16
Aaron was a sophomore RA in Tower when I entered my first year in 2012 as a freshman...he was on floor 7 and I was on 10. We would pass each other and chat every now and again, but didn’t think much of it until he asked me to play ping pong in the basement of Tower and if I lost I had to go on a date with him.
Sean '06 & Joyce Dindo McKinniss '06
For Sean ’06 and Joyce Dindo McKinniss ’06, cross-cultural studies proved the catalyst for a lifetime of love. The year was 2003 when we first met in a Russian history class at Wittenberg. Back then, we were more of acquaintances as our schedules turned out to be quite similar, so we would see each other frequently in our political science classes.
Samuel '16 & Allison Perry Klarer '15
Sam and Allie met at Wittenberg in 2014 through mutual friends. They hit it off right away and went on their first date to Chakeres Theater to watch Interstellar. That winter they joined the Outdoors Club on a ski trip to New York and not long after went on another ski trip to Virginia for spring break with their friends from Wittenberg. During these trips, they fell in love.
David '15 & Elizabeth Nelson Fuss '16
We met in New Hall on Elizabeth’s first day of classes her freshman year. We found out that we had a lot in common and were inseparable from that day on. We were both psychology majors and involved in the sociology department so we took many classes together. Of course we kissed on the kissing bridge!
Andy Klosky '05 & Julia Murgatroyd '06
Jules and I met through the Wittenberg Pep Band. I had just returned from a semester abroad and joined the band as their primary drummer. Jules, meanwhile, played saxophone. Our romance started by bonding over pizza in the laundry room after Witt basketball games.
Dick '64 & Gwen Smiley Anderson '63
Gwen and I met in the spring of '63 in Evansville at the finals of the NCAA basketball tournament. Introduced by a fraternity brother, I had never met or seen Gwen on campus. It was one of those "love at first sight" meetings and we spent as much time together the rest of the semester. We were married in Sept of 64 and have been together for 55 years living most of that time in Defiance, OH having been blessed with 3 children and 5 grandchildren.
Brad '02 & Andi Kramer Zitzner '02
We met during new student days. Started off as good friends. He lived in South, She lived in Woodlawn. She actually lived in the same exact dorm room as his mom 20 years earlier. We officially started dating at the beginning of sophomore year. Twenty years later, we have been married for 12 years and have 2 boys.
Scott '01 & Deanna Carlson Ness '99
I met my wife, Deanna, my first night at Witt. It was a Tuesday night in South Hall. I had met my roommate earlier that day and we decided to do a low key, low stress night. We went to the second floor, a female floor, to spend the night hanging out with a high school classmate of mine. We were playing cards, laughing, and talking about all that was in store for us as we were just getting started at Wittenberg.
Chris '09 & Grace Wigton Grant '07
Chris and I met through our love for athletics. He played football and I played softball, but we met during an intramural basketball game, where I was working the scoreboard and he was playing the game. We knew of each other, but we hadn’t officially met until following the game when Chris challenged me to a game of “Pig,” where I beat him!
Daniel '08 & Molly Knepper Foreman '07
Molly and I met at a fraternity party after I had come back from boot camp. I did not do so well my first freshman year at Wittenberg and so I had dropped out to join the Marines. I came back after boot camp while I was on leave. We ended up talking for most of the night and the next day I had to leave for more training and eventually the war. I didn’t return for two years. According to Molly she said she we would look for me in composite photos and wonder what happened to that guy she spent the night talking to.
Blake '17 & Megan Zeidler Nelson '17
While only 42 miles separated them growing up, Wittenberg was the place where it all began for Blake Nelson and Megan Zeidler. The two met their freshman year at Wittenberg and like so many other alumni before them, Blake and Megan married after college. The wedding took place on Aug. 3, 2019, in Cleveland, Ohio.
Jason '98 & Kim Lane Bellomy '97
We met and became friends while working together in the math workshop and continued our friendship after graduating and moving to different states (and countries). Reunited a few years later when we were both living in Arizona. Celebrated 17 years of marriage this year.
Adam '00 & Cassie Hogan Eskew '00
Adam and I had met in passing in the study lounge on the 2nd floor of Firestine. Spring semester of our freshman year we had Spanish together and sat next to each other since we knew each other. Later that semester, he asked me to the Beta Theta Pi formal just as friends.
Brice '18 & Katie Watkins Pearson '18
We met on Valentines Day of our freshman year while working a basketball game. Brice was actually wearing the tiger costume! We were both seeing other people, but over the next year of working together we got to be great friends.
Kreig '15 & Deidre Hooley Spahn '15
Deidre and Kreig met on the very first day of freshman orientation. They were in the same Wittsem. They quickly became friends and started dating about a month later. They graduated in 2015 and spent a year apart as Kreig went to grad school. They got married in April 2018, and were very involved in the theatre and music department.
Scott Gelo '01 & Jennifer Bickford '01
We met first semester freshman year 1997 in one of the most romantic places on campus—the laundry room in Firestine Hall. Who would have thought a 30 minute chat while guarding the coveted dryers would lead to a lifetime together.
August '49 & Carol Wagner Mueller '49
We met in the kitchen of the dining hall in Ferncliff Hall. Gus was washing pots and pans. One of his frat brothers brought Carol Wagner from the dining room so Gus could invite her to a house dance. She accepted the invitation!
Michael '11 & Stephanie Hemwall Maloney '09
Steph and I met in high school in our hometown. We both attended Wittenberg and continued our relationship throughout our four years. We got married in 2016 and are expecting a little Tiger in August! Our love grew at Witt, and we couldn’t be more proud to have attended.
Alan '69 & Pamela Jackson Stewart '69
Sometimes it’s a common interest, sometimes looks, AND sometimes it’s a particular smell that brings couples together. For Pamela and Alan Stewart it was a bad aroma that made for a memorable first date leading to a long happy future together.
Pete '04 & Molly Johns Franz '05
Legend has it we first met at a Witt v BW Football game in the fall of 1983. Both sets of our parents went to Witt 72’-73’ (moms were DG sisters) and we had grandparents and aunts and uncles who went to both Witt and BW, so our families bumped into one another at the game. Pete was 2 and Molly was a baby.
Ken '68 & Pat Richmond Benne '68
For Ken ’68 and Patricia Richmond Benne ’68, it was an “accidental” slip after their western civilization class that placed them on a path to 49 years of a happy marriage.
John '89 & Heather Erb Zak '90
It was winter break my freshman year of 1987. We both are from the Cleveland area. At a local hang out, The Wagon Wheel, John saw me from afar, came up to me and said “don’t you go to Witt?” The rest is history...
Nick '08 & Nicki Nora '08
We were in the same wittsem freshman year. We didn’t start dating until a little over a year later. I (Nicki) lovingly say I chased him until he caught me. Shortly after we started dating I think we both knew it was for the long haul.
Robert '54 & Lucille Schmidt Doxey '57
Dox was a senior when I arrived as a freshman. We had one date each year while he stayed on campus at Hamma. Just before graduation he proposed. Must have been a good idea - we had 51 years before he died in 2008. He kept me in music and laughter.
Gordon '78 & Jan Koogler Gera '78
We met at the Hanger in the end of our freshman year. On our first Valentines Day , he wore the same outfit he had in the night we met. We celebrated our 40th wedding anniversary last June.

Bryce '94 & Laura Newton '93
We had many mutual friends and knew each other for awhile before we started dating. Bryce invited me to a Delta Sig crush party; I went without knowing who invited me. When I got there and saw him, we spent 20 minutes or so chatting, until I finally said "I should probably go find the person who invited me," and he said "I invited you."
Richard '67 & Dawn Cartee Stewart '71
Luther League, Wittenberg, Camp Mowana, were all central to a budding romance that continues into our 52nd year.
Andrew Zielinski '18 & Gabby Cox '18
We met our freshman year through mutual friends. It's been 5 years and we are getting married in October!
