A Week of Giving

Wittenberg to Host Its First-Ever Giving Week, Oct. 14-18

Wittenberg University is celebrating A Week of Giving, Oct. 14-18, 2024. During Wittenberg’s first-ever giving week, alumni, students, faculty, staff, and friends nationwide will come together and show their Tiger pride for a weeklong celebration featuring Scholarship Support, Experiential Learning, Life at Witt, Athletics, and Wittenberg’s Greatest Needs.

“A Week of Giving is an opportunity for Tigers to support what matters most to them and to reflect on their experience at Wittenberg,” said Rebecca Kocher, vice president of Advancement and Alumni Engagement. “Every gift, no matter the size, matters. During our first-ever giving week, we encourage you to Give Like a Tiger!”

The online giving week offers several options to match the various philanthropic interests of those participating. Participants are encouraged to check back daily throughout A Week of Giving at: giving.wittenberg.edu/g/aweekofgiving

  • Monday, Oct. 14 — Scholarship Support: Through the support of generous donors, the University can bring the cost of a Wittenberg education within closer reach for families. Scholarships help with recruiting, enrolling, and retaining promising students.
  • Tuesday, Oct. 15 — Experiential Learning: Impactful, experiential-learning opportunities are important to our students. These experiences are designed to give students a chance to engage in-depth with faculty, staff, and other students on a wide range of topics.
  • Wednesday, Oct. 16 — Life at Witt: From engaged learning to service, self-reflection, and fun, Witt students shine as they create a vibrant campus community. They find their passion through learning and research, campus life, and student organizations and clubs.
  • Thursday, Oct. 17 — Athletics: Wittenberg has long been a pioneer in athletics and recreation, offering a broad-based intercollegiate athletics program and leading the way in competitive opportunities for our student-athletes.
  • Friday, Oct. 18 — Wittenberg’s Greatest Needs: Unrestricted funds to Wittenberg provide financial support for virtually every purpose and function of the Wittenberg community. These gifts support Wittenberg’s student-centered education.

“When we pass our light on to others, Wittenberg shines,” Kocher said. “Though the challenges facing higher education, Wittenberg and our Springfield community are real, we are actively addressing them with determination. We are seeking new and innovative ways forward that will ensure a vibrant and sustainable future for our university. We’re grateful to alumni and friends who support Wittenberg, passing their light on to others.”

About Wittenberg

Wittenberg's curriculum has centered on the liberal arts as an education that develops the individual's capacity to think, read, and communicate with precision, understanding, and imagination. We are dedicated to active, engaged learning in the core disciplines of the arts and sciences and in pre-professional education grounded in the liberal arts. Known for the quality of our faculty and their teaching, Wittenberg has more Ohio Professors of the Year than any four-year institution in the state. The university has also been recognized nationally for excellence in community service, sustainability, and intercollegiate athletics. Located among the beautiful rolling hills and hollows of Springfield, Ohio, Wittenberg offers more than 100 majors, minors and special programs, enviable student-faculty research opportunities, a unique student success center, service and study options close to home and abroad, a stellar athletics tradition, and successful career preparation.
