A Special Place

In the 100 years since Wittenberg hosted its first sporting event in the newly constructed Wittenberg Stadium, its field, later named for legendary coaches Bill Edwards and Dave Maurer, has been the site of countless regular season thrillers and conference championship performances. Wittenberg Stadium has played an important role in the University's history and its mission to develop the Wholeness of Person.

We hope you enjoy the trip down memory lane, celebrate our present-day successes, and join us in eager anticipation of an even brighter future. #TigerUp

A Century Of Excellence

On October 20, 1923, Wittenberg's football team moved into a new stadium constructed at the north end of campus and played before a stadium-record crowd of 12,243 people. A century later, Wittenberg celebrates its annual Homecoming, Reunion & Family Weekend by welcoming thousands of people to campus for a range of activities events - including home football and soccer games in that same stadium.

Intercollegiate Athletics at Wittenberg

Wittenberg University has long been a pioneer in athletics and recreation, offering as broad-based an intercollegiate athletics program as possible and leading the way in offering women competitive opportunities.
