Wittenberg University is ranked No. 10 out of 637 schools for its communication program in terms of potential salary for its graduates by Payscale’s College Salary Report, which was recently released.
PayScale Inc., the world's leading provider of on-demand compensation data and software, based its annual report on the salaries of 3.2 million college graduates and provided estimates of early and mid-career pay for 2,646 associate and bachelor's degree-granting institutions. Approximately 637 institutions offering four-year degrees were looked at for communications and journalism majors. Numbers for Wittenberg alumni were $49,000 (early career earnings) to $119,500 (mid-career earnings).
Joining Wittenberg in the Top 10 are Vanderbilt University, the University of Pennsylvania, Stanford University, Santa Clara University in California; the University of California-Berkeley; the University of Virginia’s main campus in Charlottesville; the University of California-Santa Barbara; Bentley University in Waltham, Massachusetts; and Fairfield University in Fairfield, Connecticut.
Wittenberg's communication program reinforces the university's liberal arts mission rather than narrowly training a student for a particular career. The PayScale College Salary Report 2018-2019 includes 1,679 of the 2,167 eligible bachelor’s degree- granting schools in the United States, and 1,393 of the 1,712 eligible associate degree-granting schools. This list includes:
- 98 percent of schools with enrollments of more than 5,000 undergraduates.
- 95 percent of schools with enrollments of more than 1,000.
- Enrolls over 96 percent of all undergraduates at public or not-for-profit institutions in the U.S. based on enrollment data from the U.S. Department of Education’s Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS).
