Wittenberg Campaign Expert to Present at National Conference

Vice President for Advancement and Alumni Engagement Rebecca Kocher has been invited to co-present and moderate several virtual sessions and a panel discussion this month for the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE).

CASE, a global non-profit association dedicated to educational advancement including alumni relations, communications, development, marketing, and advancement services, has a mission of serving as a catalyst for advancing education worldwide.

Kocher will present the first of two workshops on Wednesday, Dec. 9, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. alongside Juan Garcia, assistant vice president for advancement strategy and campaign director at the University of Texas at Austin. Titled “Fundamentals of Comprehensive/Capital Campaigns,” the workshop will provide an overview of the fundamentals needed to conduct a successful campaign. This session will share the current trends in campaign strategy, trends in the field of advancement, and campaign planning best practices that support an institution’s overall campaign success.

On Thursday, Dec. 10, Kocher and Christine Hoffman, vice president of campaigns and administration at Tulane University in New Orleans, will present a workshop titled “Impact of Campaign Volunteers” from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Participants will learn about comprehensive campaigns and how they are powered by institutional and volunteer leaders leveraging key relationships to maximize success and ensuring outstanding experiences. They will also talk about how comprehensive campaigns are critical to realizing monetary and engagement goals. In addition, the session outlines important steps and considerations in the recruitment process and explores the growing trend of campaign volunteer engagement.

Additionally, Kocher will be part of a panel discussion titled “Expecting the Unexpected,” which will examine the need for campaigns to embrace a multifaceted, pro-active approach for dealing with the ever-changing challenges and opportunities that impact an institution and its fundraising abilities, including recessions, leadership transitions, athletics success, and national crises.

“I am honored to have the opportunity to partner with national colleagues to discuss multiple aspects of launching and managing a comprehensive campaign,” Kocher said. “I hope that together we can inspire those in attendance to see every campaign through an exciting new lens.”

In her role at Wittenberg, Kocher is responsible for leading the alumni engagement and fundraising efforts to help Wittenberg University successfully launch and complete its latest comprehensive campaign. She has a passion for developing, implementing, and analyzing strategies to expand outreach with limited resources, as well as extensive experience in relationship-building and cross-divisional collaboration, all within a metrics-driven environment. With more than 15 years of experience in higher education fundraising, Kocher understands and embraces the value of creating a metric-driven environment that includes high levels of accountability and a high-touch modeling method.

According to its website, CASE inspires, challenges, and equips communities of professionals to act effectively and with integrity to champion the success of each member’s. As a 501(c)(3) organization, CASE serves a broad array of educational institutions around the world and takes positions on public policy issues only when they relate specifically to the field of educational advancement, alumni relations, communications, fundraising, marketing, and related activities at schools, colleges and universities.
