SPRINGFIELD, Ohio – Given the ongoing concerns around COVID-19 and the challenges it presents in terms of living in shared spaces, Wittenberg will be offering all residence hall students the opportunity to request a single room for the price of a double room during the 2020-2021 academic year.
“The health and safety of our students has been at the center of every decision we have made as an institution in response to the pandemic,” said Vice President for Student Development and Dean of Students Casey Gill. “We believe that in offering this opportunity and moving toward a lower density residential model, we can reassure our students and their families that the well-being of their students is foremost in our minds.”
This change and instructions on how to complete an updated housing survey for incoming students will be available at noon on Tuesday, May 19, through Wittenberg’s admission student portal. For new students who deposit to Wittenberg by June 1 and complete the housing survey by June 7, residence hall placement announcements will be sent on Monday, June 15. All residence hall rates will be flattened to the standard double rate for that hall for the 2020-2021 academic year.
The news follows an earlier communication from Wittenberg President Michael Frandsen on May 11 regarding the University’s intentions for the fall 2020 semester.
“Wittenberg University has been and always will be a residential educational experience that fulfills its mission and purpose when our community is living and learning on campus,” Frandsen said. “With this as a core component of our foundation, we intend to do everything we can to move forward with resuming in-person classes this fall.”
