“From the moment I stepped foot on Wittenberg’s campus I was inspired by the rich passion, creativity, and spirit of the people flourishing here.”
Ashley Milliner, an English major and communication minor from Beachwood, Ohio, has a love for learning that knows no bounds.
“I chose to pursue English because it gave me the incredible opportunity to articulate myself and expand my educational growth in a literary setting. I trusted the wonderful professors of English department and my intellectual peers to lead me to reach new heights. The greatest reward I have found the English discipline has given me is the pleasure to share all the gifts that writing and creative thinking has to offer.”
With those skills, Milliner actively served as a leader on campus.
“During my Wittenberg career I have been most proud of my ability to stimulate academic and social growth on campus. Wittenberg allowed me to wear multiple hats in my four years. My liberal arts education allowed me to find the wholeness of the person in many disciplines. As a student-athlete and leader on campus, I challenged myself to adapt and overcome adversity with the support of everyone around me. I was shown the ropes early on, and then hit the ground running!”
Ready to continue learning and leading, Milliner recently swore into the United States Air Force.
“After graduation I intend to enlist in security forces before entering law school. Eventually I would like the Air Force to lead me to the Judge Advocate General (JAG) officer training program. Law has always been my passion and it is my lifetime aspiration to become a human rights attorney.”
Her advice to future students: “Take your Wittenberg journey in strides, find your niche and explore all of the opportunities the campus has to offer. Don’t be afraid to try new things or step outside box, you’ll be glad you did. Four years will be here before you know it! As I have come to love this place, it will be hard to say goodbye to the home and relationships I have cherished for the last four years, but the start of a new chapter excites me because I know that Wittenberg has prepared me. Once a Tiger, always a Tiger!"
