With today being the final day of activities, the Bahamas crew started the morning off by drying off all our snorkel gear. Today was the dreaded final exam – 50 identification questions. In the fastest turnover, 10 minutes after the last person finished, our grades were ready… and everyone did fantastic! Turns out experiencing things firsthand helps learning. After the exam, we continued to work on finalizing our research posters and the beginning stages of packing. After the most delicious of grilled cheese lunches, we went off back to the Grotto to enjoy one last beach day. After intense games of Jackpot, we happened to notice that there were very large storm clouds rolling in. To add to the ambience, we could see the rain in the distance hiding Cockburn Town. On our way back on the truck, we got a good old classic rain pelting. If the exam wasn’t enough, we decided to do trivia on the ride to distract us from the pelting and the thought of leaving such a beautiful place. We did a victory lap around the island as we prepared for our last supper. As we gathered around our grand folding table in the cafeteria, we sat down for what was a Thanksgiving dinner. Afterwards, we helped the professors take books to the library that we were all donating. We got to ride in a cool right sided drive van for the whole 30 second drive from our class to the library.
We end our evening with poster presentations, seeing what other people have been researching. It wasn’t until we started watching Grown Ups in the classroom when we realized that this was our last night on the island. I think we can say that we will always remember this trip and the friends and memories we made. Crank those AC’s parents, we’re coming home.
