Employee Assistance Plan (EAP)
The University's Life & Disability provider, MetLife, contracts with LifeWorks U.S., Inc. to provide EAP Services to Wittenberg employees and their immediate family members. The EAP Program is a confidential counseling and referral service providing support through a national network of highly trained practitioners. The program includes up to 5 telephonic or video consultations with licensed counselors per issue, per calendar year. Employees and their immediate family members can call 1-888-319-7819 to speak with a counselor or to schedule an appointment, 24/7/365. Web and mobile app services are also available. - Grief Counseling: Included in the EAP, LifeWorks counselors also provide Grief Counseling services for employees and family members. These professional, confidential services offer assistance when a loved one has died, you've finalized a divorce, you've received a serious medical diagnosis or critical illness, or you've lost your job.
- Travel Assistance Program: Also included with the EAP is a comprehensive travel service program administered by AXA Assistance USA, Inc. through a marketing arrangement with MetLife. The Travel Assistance program offers you and your dependents access to medical, travel, and concierge services – 24 hours a day, 365 days a year when traveling internationally or domestically. A toll-free phone call to the Alarm Center puts you in touch with AXA Assistance’s highly trained staff that can assist you in obtaining the help you need. - Estate Planning: Estate planning documents are available to employees who are enrolled in a supplemental life option through MetLife. Effective 1/1/2021, employees enrolled in a supplemental life option will have access to Digital Estate Planning services to complete wills, living wills, and power of attorney documents online. - Manager Guide: This easy-to-use handbook offers practical suggestions on how to use the Employee Assistance Program (EAP). It identifies challenging scenarios that managers and supervisors may face from time to time, and offers step-by-step advice to help resolve situations quickly and effectively. Use this guide as a quick reference tool and take advantage of its many helpful tips and techniques including ways to: master the use of EAP resources, understand the key challenges that managers face, recognize the signs of an employee in trouble, prepare for and deal with employee performance issues, deal with other difficult employee-related situations, and use preventative tools to promote a healthy workplace.
